"Let's go girls" – A review of Shania Twain.

What a powerhouse Shania Twain is. Her ability to blend country, pop and rock to create catchy, infectious songs, full of empowering lyrics, is unmatched, and she has a famously magnetic stage presence to boot. I have a friend who has been to countless gigs and always cites Shania as the best live performer, he's ever seen. There's no denying the mark she's left on the music industry, and if that wasn't enough, she's a beloved queer ally, too.

It all began in 1993 when Twain released her self-titled debut album, introducing her fresh take on country music to the world, before her breakthrough release, "The Woman in Me" came out in 1995. It was 1997 that brought global success though, with "Come On Over", which included iconic songs such as "Man! I Feel Like A Woman", becoming the best-selling studio album by a female act. Twain went on to continue dominating the charts, with her latest album being released in 2023 and tour dates happening in 2026, she's absolutely still relevant today.

Twain's career is packed with anthems that have stood the test of time. Signature tracks include "Man! I Feel Like a Woman!", "That Don't Impress Me Much", "You're Still the One", and "From This Moment On". These songs not only topped charts but also became staples at parties, weddings, and sporting events, celebrated for their catchy melodies and empowering messages – you'll forever find me on a dancefloor when Shania comes on.

Over her career, Shania Twain has collected an impressive number of awards. She's won five Grammy Awards, multiple Juno Awards, and has been inducted in the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. She's also won American Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards and has a star on Canada's Walk of Fame – honestly, it might be easier to talk about awards she hasn't won.

Something I can't ignore is her impact on the LGBT+ community. Shania Twain's music has resonated deeply within the LGBT+ community, thanks in part to her inclusive lyrics and messages of self-acceptance. Her anthem "Man! I Feel Like a Woman!" is widely embraced as a celebration of individuality, and she has spoken openly about her support for LGBT+ rights. She's so grateful for her diverse fanbase and often performs at Pride events – something I would love to see. She's an ally and an icon, and the queer community adores her.

An international superstar and icon, Shania Twain's career is a testament to talent, being your authentic self and resilience. She's broken records, had a massive social impact and has created genre defying music - and all of this means her legacy will always inspire musicians and fans alike.

Let's go girls.
