What to watch at Fringe! A review of This Is My Baby Live.

Hosted by stand-up comedian and co-owner of the Queer Comedy Club, David Ian, and musical comedian and cabaret artist, Sarah Hester Ross, "This Is My Baby" is a podcast that celebrates all of those life events that you don't get a celebration for in normal day to day life. Life's achievements don't always need to come with a ring, a shower or a registry; sometimes it's getting a new job, surviving a hard year or doing something you've always dreamed of doing – and that's what the podcast is all about. Featuring special guests every week, the live recording at Edinburgh Fringe is well worth seeing.

The friendly chemistry between David and Sarah is an absolute joy to watch. They effortlessly bounce off each other, interact with the audience, and exude positivity and warmth. Both are exceptionally funny but for different reasons; David is quick witted, sharp and sarcastic, whilst Sarah is unapologetically feminist and warm, and together they interact with each other – and their audience – delightfully.

One of the joys of this show is that it'll never be the same twice. With each recording comes a new guest, new "babies" and new interactions. So far, Drag Race star Kate Butch and the legendary comedian Reuben Kaye have appeared – so you really never do know who you might get to see in such an intimate venue space!

There are games too – it was an absolutely hilarious joy to watch David, Sarah and Kate try to swing a dummy to their mouths from their belts. Utterly ridiculous and laugh out loud funny, it was a brilliant moment to be present for.

The show wraps with the lovely hosts asking their audience for a "baby" of their own – this truly is a celebration of all the positives and the wins that life has to offer. "This Is My Baby Live" is an endearing, welcoming and celebratory show, offering a rare opportunity to see the hosts and their guests in an intimate setting, and I would truly recommend adding it to your list of shows to watch at Fringe.

You can see "This Is My Baby Live" at Edinburgh Fringe, Thursdays and Sundays in the Gilded Balloon Teviot at 4.20pm.
